MARA DOBRESCO / PIANIST

Praised for her temperament and the elegance of her phrasing, the Franco-Romanian pianist Mara Dobresco gives recitals throughout Europe as well as in Argentina, Australia, Japan and the United States.
Her many recordings have earned her rave reviews from the specialized press, which do not hesitate to compare her to Argerich or Arrau.

Mara Dobresco is invited to play recitals or chamber music with the best musicians of her generation in prestigious halls such as the Mogador Theater, the Cité de la Musique, La Scala Paris, the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Musée d’Orsay, the Salle Cortot, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Théâtre de la Monnaie, the Bozar in Brussels, or at the Grand Théâtre de Provence as well as at major festivals such as the Festival de La Roque d’Anthéron, La Folle Journée de Nantes, Festival d’ Aix en Provence, LillePiano(s) Festival, Chopin in Châteauroux, Salle Pleyel, at the Nohant Festival, at the Chopin Festival at the Orangerie de Bagatelle, at the "Classique au Vert" Festival...

Mara Dobresco has traced a very personal path in the current musical landscape, proposing numerous projects based on the intersection between theater, choreography, literature or photography.
Her latest projects have led her to collaborate with many artists such as actor Dénis Lavant and director Volodia Serre, choreographer Béatrice Massin, filmmakers Claus Drexel and Radu Mihaileanu and photographer Éric Sanger Monteros.

A fervent interpreter of the contemporary repertoire, she regularly collaborates with many composers: Philippe Hersant, Franck Villard, Philipe Leroux, Gyorgy Kurtag or even Oscar Strasnoy who made her the dedicatee of several of his works.

Mara Dobresco is always looking to enrich her repertoire, thanks to new musical and human experiences that give her the opportunity to play with ensembles close to her heart, such as the Quatuor Face à Face (2 pianos, 2 percussion) and more recently Ensemble K (an ensemble of solo musicians led by Simone Menezes).

Mara Dobresco is also a scholarship holder of the Yamaha, Meyer, Tarazzi and Nadia and Lili Boulanger Foundations and receives the advice and support of Martha Argerich, Dominique Merlet, as well as Jean-Claude Pennetier and Pierre-Laurent Aimard with whom she performed in concert four hands.
His latest album entitled "Soleils de nuit" (Paraty) met an immense success and excellent reviews from the specialized press.

In September 2022, "The Fruit of Silence" will be released by Scala Music.
